Finding a holiday that genuinely caters to the whole family can be a challenge, but our stay at Sonnwies Family Hotel in the Dolomites was exactly that—a true holiday for everyone. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was a place designed with families in mind, but without compromising on the luxury and relaxation adults crave.
Everything for the children
What stood out most was how thoughtfully the hotel catered for children. From toddlers to older kids (I’d say best suited to children up to about 10/12), there is something for everyone. The play areas are incredible, and the programme of activities means children can be entertained while parents enjoy some downtime. For our little ones, there was never a dull moment—they loved the swimming pools, creative workshops, and outdoor play zones. The team really know how to make children feel special and engaged.
Relaxation and indulgence for adults
While the children were happy, we could relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings. The hotel is set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Dolomites, with scenic walks just steps from the front door. Evenings were spent savouring excellent food and drinks in beautifully designed spaces. Every meal was a treat, with fresh, local ingredients and attention to detail that made dining a highlight of the day. And it wasn’t just the fine dining—the casual options and family friendly menus meant everyone was happy.
The perfect balance
What makes Sonnwies truly exceptional is the balance it strikes between family fun and adult indulgence. Parents can enjoy spa treatments, evening drinks, or a quiet moment in the lounge, while knowing their children are safe, happy, and fully engaged. This harmony makes it feel like a holiday for all of us, not just the adults or the children separately.

Outside the hotel, the surrounding scenery is spectacular. There are plenty of walks suitable for families of all ages and abilities, allowing you to soak up the mountain air and the stunning landscapes. Whether you’re taking a gentle stroll with younger children or a more challenging hike, the options are plentiful and easily accessible. The hotel provide buggies for your use too which is really helpful (single and double).

Sonnwies is the kind of place that sets a benchmark for family holidays. Everything from the provision for children to the food, drink, and scenic surroundings was superb. It’s a hotel that genuinely delivers for all ages, making it easy to relax, explore, and create memories together.
